The Sentinel is a medium, unarmored ARC turret that perches on rooftops, ledges, and other elevated outdoor positions. It is always found outside and usually placed to watch over wide, open sightlines. One of its key weak points is a small, vulnerable capsule mounted on the rear of its swiveling arm.
Attack pattern and targeting
A Sentinel tracks Raiders with a thick orange laser while following your movement. After a brief moment, multiple beams converge on the target, which is your warning that the shot is about to happen. Once the lasers tighten onto a single point, the Sentinel fires a Heavy Ammo round after a short delay, dealing major damage.
If you break line of sight right before the shot, it may still fire at your last known position. Do not underestimate its reach, because its effective range is long even when it looks distant.
How to fight it
Use solid cover and take advantage of its slower reaction time and fire rate. You can often peek and land shots faster than it can complete a full targeting cycle. When you have an opening, aim for the yellow canister on the swivel arm to deal increased damage, since it is a vulnerable component.
How to avoid its attacks
- Dodge roll when the lasers begin to converge
- Slide to disrupt its tracking
- Move behind cover and avoid re-peeking predictably
- Stay out of sight for longer stretches to break its pressure and reset the engagement
