The Shredder is a brutal ARC machine that hovers just above the ground, most commonly encountered in Stella Montis where it thrives in tight, enclosed fights.
When Raiders first ran into it at the Stella Montis facility, it carved a path through squads so efficiently that the name “Shredder” stuck immediately. Not because it was clever, but because it fit.
Combat role and behavior
The Shredder is at its strongest in close quarters, especially in narrow halls and rooms where escape routes are limited.
It aggressively pushes to close distance and prefers angles where walls, corners, and cover restrict your movement.
Attack patterns
- Primary attack: fires a multi-round shrapnel burst in all directions, creating heavy area damage that becomes far deadlier indoors.
- Charged blast: periodically pauses to charge, then releases a larger shrapnel blast or cone. The charge animation gives a short reaction window, but getting caught in the release is extremely dangerous.
Weak points and counterplay
Its propulsion units, the blue rear thrusters, are consistent weak spots. Hitting them deals increased damage and can stagger it, giving you room to reset the fight.
Explosives are highly effective, especially when timed during or right after its charge sequence. Trigger grenades, snap grenades, fuse grenades, and other area explosives can punish its predictable charge timing.
Tips
- Fight from cover and break line of sight often. Open lanes favor the Shredder’s big burst patterns.
- Watch for the charge pause. Use that moment to reposition or commit damage.
- Aim for the blue thrusters whenever you have a clean angle.
- Use explosives to force stagger and shorten the encounter.

The Shredder Gyro is the Shredder’s unique drop and is used to upgrade the Gunsmith.
