Shani: Nasty little buggers. Don’t let them swarm you; aim for the thrusters, if you can.
The Wasp is a nimble ARC drone most commonly seen flying in tight patrol groups—often with other Wasps and, occasionally, a Hornet mixed in. It’s quick, slippery, and built to spot trouble early.
Combat
In a fight, the Wasp becomes noticeably harder to track:
- It shifts into more erratic flight patterns when engaged
- Before firing, it paints targets with a red aiming laser
- It then releases a volley of projectiles—and typically hovers in place while shooting, making that moment your best window to punish it
Weak points: thrusters
The Wasp’s biggest flaw is also the most obvious: its thrusters are exposed and unarmored.
- Destroying two thrusters can send it dropping straight down
- A high fall can instantly destroy it on impact
- If it loses only one thruster, it will fly far more erratically, becoming harder to hit reliably
Tips for surviving Wasps
- Stay unseen: use cover and foliage to avoid getting picked up
- Interrupt the lock: kill it before it finishes lining up the red targeting laser
- Exploit its firing pause: when it stops to shoot, it’s briefly predictable ideal for landing shots on thrusters
Role in the world (lore)
Wasps appear to serve as ARC’s first-response aerial security, patrolling predictable routes above areas linked to ARC probing and extraction activity. They actively scan for threats—and can be jumpy enough to misidentify humanoid statues as Raiders.
They’re also drawn to places with frequent Raider presence, which is why you’ll often see them circling hotspots.
Drops and materials
Typical drops/materials connected to the Wasp include:
- Light Ammo
- ARC Powercell
- ARC Alloy
- Simple Gun Parts
- Wasp Driver (unique drop)
Wasp Driver (unique item)
The Wasp Driver is the key component Raiders care about most. It’s used to upgrade the Gunsmith, and it’s valuable enough that many players will target Wasps specifically to farm it.
Extra notes
- A Snitch can call in additional Wasps from orbit, turning a quiet area into a sudden swarm bad news for the unprepared, but a potential goldmine of Wasp Drivers for Raiders who plan around it.
