The Spotter is a support ARC drone that does not attack directly. Instead, it paints Raiders with a marking laser so the Bombardier can lock on and deliver accurate fire from extreme distances.
What the Spotter does
When you are in its line of sight, the Spotter points a laser at you to reveal your position to the Bombardier. The laser must maintain a continuous line of sight to keep you tagged, but it can still track you in places where the Bombardier cannot actually shoot.
This makes the Spotter dangerous in an indirect way. It enables the Bombardier to engage you from very far away, and even from angles or cover that would normally block the Bombardier’s shots.
Respawn and behavior rules
There are typically two Spotters operating with a Bombardier.
If both Spotters are destroyed, a new pair will eventually respawn.
If the Bombardier is destroyed, the Spotters will fly away.
Why it matters
The Spotter itself is not the threat. The threat is what it enables.
Removing both Spotters can temporarily “blind” the Bombardier, but repeatedly doing this is often a waste since they respawn and you will burn ammo or utility for only a short window.
How to counter the Spotter
Because it does not directly damage you, you can neutralize its value with positioning and utility.
1) Move into safe structure
Get inside a building or space the Bombardier cannot shoot into. The Spotter may still mark you, but the Bombardier cannot capitalize on it.
2) Break line of sight
Place a wall, object, or hard cover between you and the Spotter to cut the beam. Once line of sight is broken, the Spotter must reacquire you.
3) Use Quick Use items
Use tools that blind, stun, or disorient the Spotter long enough to escape, rotate, or reposition around it.
